Preface

In the year of 1986, the State Firemen's and Fire Marshals' Association in conjunction with the Professional Insurance Agencies of Texas asked each of the Association's member districts to select a Fire Fighter of the Year.  This name would then be submitted to the State Firemen's and Fire Marshals' Association with the overall winner to be named as the State of Texas Fire Fighter of the Year.  Jody Evans of Eden was selected as the first State of Texas Fire Fighter of the year on June 17, 1986 in Austin, Texas at the 110th State Convention.
